Escanaba in Da Moonlight (2001) by Jeff Daniels

A macho man in a family on the eve of deer-hunting season must deal with the eldest son's curse of never having bagged a buck. A humorous and relatable story of an intelligent man dealing with the frustration of being a "buckless yooper" at deer camp. He deals with his competitive brother, his challenging father and two other comical guys. Men will easily relate to the angst. Women will have fun as long as they're willing to avoid trying to find a deep plot line the first time they watch.
